Police FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru has challenged the national team coaches to give midfielder Juma Balinya a chance to prove his worth at a bigger stage.
Mubiru just like many keen followers of league football has the belief that Balinya is now ripe and ready for national team duty.
“He (Balinya) is the best attacking midfielder in the country right now, and he needs a chance to showcase what he can do for the national team,” Mubiru told www.football256.com before adding.
“He is a very good player who needs to be supported, currently he is doing well but you can also see he is working harder to improve and become a better player.”
“We don’t have very many good midfielders, who create goal scoring chances but also find time and score goals, Balinya gives you both and that gives him an edge over the other players in the same position,” Mubiru added.
Despite being a midfielder, Balinya is currently leading the top scorers chart with 13 goals in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Breaking into the senior national team has never been easy, especially lately with a number of foreign based players dominating.
But players like Vipers’ Moses Waisswa have been a mainstay in the national team setup throughout the qualifying campaign of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations.
Nicholas Wadada had also cemented the right back position before his transfer from Vipers SC to Azam FC in Tanzania.
