Wakiso Giants forward Yasin Mugume is hopeful of getting an extended run of games next season after recovering from a persistent injury problem that kept him out of action last season.

Mugume says he is delighted to be fully back from injury, and is desperate to make up for the amount of football he has missed since suffering the injury in October last year.

The winger missed most of last season with a knee injury, and featured in only five games for the Purple Sharks, completing just 95 minutes of action.

“It was a bad season on my part mainly because of injuries,” Mugume told Wakiso Giants website.

“I missed the biggest part of last season but am happy with the support from the club, teammates and medical staff,” he added.

Mugume had his first run out at the beginning of the second-round last season, coming on as a second half substitute against Police. He showed his rustiness as an error a couple of minutes after coming on led to Police scoring the winner.

His return was then cut short as the coronavirus pandemic outbreak caused a halt in football before the season was later cancelled.

However, Mugume has used the COVID-19 lockdown period to fully complete his recovery while he has also undertaken private gym sessions to build up some more muscle.

The former KCCA and Police FC wide man is positive that his work during the lockdown will help him return in a better shape, and he promises improved performances when the league returns.

“I have set my targets for the season and I promise to deliver to the best of my abilities.”

Mugume joined Wakiso Giants in January 2019 from Rwandan side Rayon Sport and played a key role as the club gained promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
