Muhammad Rashid’s future at Onduparaka remains uncertain as long as negotiations over a new contract continue to dwindle, but the defender may have hinted he is ready to commit his future to the club.
The defender who has been linked with a move to Mukono based side Kyetume FC, revealed that he has returned to his hometown of Moyo.
“Muhammad Rashid is in Moyo right now. He is not in Kampala,” he posted on his Facebook wall.
When questioned by one of his fans whether he was planning anything, he was quick to dismiss it, while many went on to urge him not to leave the club.
The central defender’s contract at the Green Light Stadium expired in June, but the Caterpillars have made clear their intentions to tie down the player on a new deal albeit amidst links of a possible departure to other suitors.
Muhammad Rashid has understandably dragged his feet over putting pen to paper on a new deal with reported interest from Kyetume complicating the matter and Onduparaka’s hopes of securing sponsorship deals to fix financial challenges looking blurry.
Football256 understands that the defender has made a strong request to have a sign on fee attached to any contract extension tabled by Onduparaka, however, the club remains hesitant to oblige.
Additionally, latest reports from different sources have stated that the player and teammate Ezra Bida have met and held talks with Kyetume who are willing to meet the demands of the duo.
And the lad from Moyo, who new coach Vialli Bionomughisa would want to build the team around, has teased fans by suggesting he could extend his stay at the Green Light Stadium.
