Uganda Cranes forward Steven Desse Mukwala made a winning start to the CAF Champions League with his new side, Asante Kotoko.
The former URA FC striker lasted 76 minutes as the Ghanaian powerhouses beat Kadiogo FC 1-0 in the first leg of the competition’s preliminary round, in Burkina Faso, on Monday.
Mukwala had two golden chances to open his account on his official debut, but twice missed the target in the 51st and 53rd minutes.
The Porcupine Warriors netted through youngster Isaac Oppong in the 92nd minute.
Kotoko head coach Seydou Zerbo handed full debuts to three other new recruits in Enoch Morrison, Georges Mfegue and John Tedeku.
They now carry the advantage ahead of the second leg slated for Kumasi, Ghana on September 19.
Meanwhile, Mukwala’s compatriot Khalid Aucho was also on the winning side in the same competition as his side Young Africans SC defeated South Sudan’s Zalan FC 4-0.
