Express FC have confirmed the marquee signing of Uganda Cranes defender Murushid Juuko on a free transfer.
Juuko was officially announced as the club’s 16th addition of the transfer window on a one-year deal with the Wasswa Bbosa coached side.
Juuko has been linked to the Red Eagles since July, but a long-standing battle with former club Wydad Casablanca who were reluctant to release him held back the deal.
But after getting clearance by FIFA at the start of the month, Juuko chose Express over any other suitors.
The defender has also been linked to Uganda Premier League Champions Vipers, KCCA FC and URA FC.
According to him, the current progress at Wankulukuku is what triggered his desire to join the club and he is convinced by far that he can help bring back some pride to Wankulukuku.
“Firstly, I want to appreciate the CEO Isaac Mwesigwa and the head coach Wasswa Bbosa for making this happen,” Juuko was quoted by the club’s official website.
“Am happy to be here, Express is a big club and its current progress speaks for itself. Am sure we are going to win silverware this season,” he added.
Express is Juuko’s fifth club, he previously played for Vipers SC and Sports Club Victoria University in Uganda, Tanzanian giants Simba SC as well as Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.
He made his Uganda Cranes debut in 2014 and since then, he has made 41 appearances and scored once.
Juuko was also part of Cranes teams that played at both the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
