Without skipper Charles Lukwago, defenders Kizza Mustafa and John Revita, midfielders Nicholas Kasozi, Muzamir Mutyaba who were away with the Cranes for a regional tour in Katakwi, KCCA FC proved their intent in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League again.

The league holders came from behind twice to defeat Police FC 3-2 in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League tie played at the StarTimes Stadium Lugogo; Allan Okello was another absentee who watched from the stands due to injury.

“The belief in the players that even when they are down, they have the confidence to react and you win,” Mutebi told www.football-256.com after the game.

“It shows the character these young kids have because you must know that we are using kids and everything that is happening to them must be appreciated,” he added.

KCCA FC played the game with a largely second-string side that also featured a few young lads; Samuel Kato, Joseph Serwadda, Herbert Achai and Musa Ramathan, while Sadat Anaku came off the bench in the second half.

A Jackson Nunda brace and a late winner by Erisa Ssekisambu cancelled out Benson Ocen and Pius Kaggwa’s strikes as the Lugogo side won their fifth game of the season in eight outings.

“The character, the showing and the belief that even when they are down, they can negotiate and pick a result was positive in this match against a very organised team who were playing very well, the difference was a little bit of quality from our players with the finishes,” Mutebi added.

The game was initially supposed to be rescheduled due to the number of players KCCA FC were missing because of the Regional Tour but KCCA FC decided to it have played as a way of reducing on their load with the club having five games in hand already.

Mutebi also insisted by emphasizing that he has the players and team to compete despite the absence of the so-called stars.

“Any player can play, I don’t believe in stars, we don’t have stars in Uganda, all these players are potentially good because a star will always come in and do things for you immediately because all these players are learning.”

“What Muzamir can do, Keziron Kizito can, what Nunda can do, Okello can do, so it’s upon most of these players to be consistent and do the right things.”

“Revita is away, so what? Is he going for score goals? No. He is going to do what Kato is doing, what Musana is doing,” Mutebi added.

KCCA FC visit Express on Wednesday, November 13th at a yet to be known venue since the Betway Muteesa II Stadium is temporarily suspended by the FUFA Licensing Board. Police will host Bright Stars, also at a yet to be known venue.
