KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi has warned that Onduparaka will have an axe to grind when they visit the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo for their StarTimes Uganda Premier League clash on Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking during his press conference on Monday morning, Mutebi whose side has not lost to the Caterpillars in the league at Lugogo has warned the Kasasiro Boys against underestimating their opponents.
“Yes, it’s right that we have won a lot of our games against Onduparaka but we won’t keep thinking that it will forever be like that, no,” Mutebi said ahead of the game before adding.
“This is a different Onduparaka from the previous ones because you can see they have a lot of new players and a new coach as well.”
“And if you watched their first game against Express, you can see they have a different mentality, they grabbed a point which gives them confidence that they can come here and pick up a good result.”
“Though I think we have enough of what it takes to win that game, we shouldn’t underestimate them,” the tactician added.
Onduparaka has won just once against KCCA in five meetings with that victory coming in 2016 when the former beat the latter 2-1 at the Greenlight stadium in their maiden season which was also the first meeting between the two sides.
KCCA has since beaten the West Nile side four times from the five encounters with three of those wins coming at the MTN Omondi, stadium with both sides winning once from Greenlight stadium.
The 13-time UPL champions will still be without new signings Bright Anukani and Andrew Kawooya who missed the first game after returning positive COVID-19 results.
Long term absentees John Revita and assistant captain Julius Poloto also continue to be sidelined.
Defender Musa Ramathan, midfielders in Steven Sserwadda and Joseph Bukenya who were recently crowned champions of the CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup with the Uganda Hippos in Tanzania will also not be available as they wait to be tested for coronavirus.
Mutebi welcomes back defender Moses Aliro and striker Sadat Anaku who missed the previous game through injuries and Aliro will be called straight back into the starting eleven at left-back in place of Hassan Musana.
Onduparaka who picked up a point from KCCA’s rivals Express on Saturday at home in Arua will be hoping to win their first ever game at Lugogo.
And if they are to try it out, striker Living Kabong who scored their equalizer through a penalty in a 1-1 draw against Express should carry his man of the match performance to Kampala.
With only one game played so far in the 2020/21 UPL season, KCCA occupy second place on three points whereas Vialli Bainomugisha’s charges lie ninth on the 16-team UPL log with a single point.
