Midfielder Muzamir Mutyaba has disclosed that the ambition and family feel around Express FC was a key factor in his decision to join the club.
Mutyaba called time on his successful five year stay at KCCA at the end of the 2019/20 season, as talks of contract renewal failed to materialise.
After months of speculation, and links to a couple of clubs including Azam FC, the Red Eagles stepped up their interest in the midfielder last week.
At the start of the week, Mutyaba and the club agreed to a one-year renewable contract, before he was unveiled by the club on Wednesday evening.
Speaking to the club media during his unveiling, Mutyaba explained that despite the numerous options he had, he couldn’t have made a better decision by choosing to move to the Betway Muteesa II Stadium.
“First of all, I would like to thank the management of Express FC for making this happen,” he told the club’s website, adding; “Yes, I had many options on the table but none fitted the bill to my satisfaction.”
“I join a club that has a lot of ambition, good organization and great players, therefore, I couldn’t have made a better decision,” Mutyaba stated.
The 27-year-old joins the club with a wealth of experience including three league titles, two Uganda Cups, the 2018 Uganda Super Cup and the CECAFA Club Championship in 2019.
He will expect to add more silverware to his resume at the six-time Uganda Premier League champions under Wasswa Bbosa who are in search of their first league title since 2012.
The Red Eagles are still unbeaten and will carry as much optimism into their next league fixture against URA FC as the Uganda Premier League resumes in February.
Express currently lie sixth on the league table with eight points from four league games, four points behind league leaders UPDF albeit with a game in hand.
