Likely to retire from active football for the second time, Mike Suleiman Mutyaba might not get the sendoff he would have dreamed of.

This is after ruling himself out for three months because of injury while training with the Cranes team preparing for the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

“To be quite honest, I cannot discuss the details of my sickness to my fans and the nation because they will get scared, but what I can say I am already on medication and will be out for three months,” Mutyaba told Football256.

If that’s the case, then the former Vipers SC and Express forward can only return early June when the current season has just ended.

He hung up his boots in February 2017 before returning in August 2018, Mutyaba had many ambitions, one of them was returning to the national team.

The former St Mary’s Kitende player actually played a part in the CHAN qualifiers, coming on as a substitute to set up defender Mustafa Kizza for Uganda’s third against Burundi in Bujumbura, and started in the 3-0 victory in the second leg.

Mutyaba and was part of the 34-man squad preparing for the CHAN finals and was strongly tipped to make the final squad because of his experience.

“It’s really disappointing that I cannot be fit to be on the team despite my massive training at the club and personal level, but I am a believer and I truly believe that nothing happens for no reason.

About whether this will be his last season or not; “I will have to discuss with the club about that before making a final decision.”

Considered one of the few experienced players on the team, Mutyaba’s presence would be pivotal in Uganda’s midfield and attack that is devoid of creativity, sharpness respectively.
