SC Villa left-back Derrick Ndahiro will miss the start of the 2020/21 season due to injury, the club has confirmed.
Ndahiro was an integral part of the Jogoo squad that finished third in the Uganda Premier League last season.
The 20-year-old will be out for the start of the season as he carries a knock, and he is optimistic that it will not take that long until he returns to the pitch.
“I might be injured and down but I am not out. The medical team is doing all they can and I will be back soon,” Derrick Ndahiro told the club’s official website.
Ndahiro has been quite impressive since earning his debut against URA FC in 2018 and is now regarded as one of the best left backs in the country.
In his absence defender Moses Kiggundu who was amongst the players that were handed new contracts can step up and play his role.
The 16-time Ugandan champions will get their 2020/21 league season underway when they visit BUL FC on Friday, December 4.
The Edward Kaziba coached side will be hoping of improving on their third-place finish last season and the club has recruited well for the new campaign.
Mohammed Nsereko, Isaac Ogwang, Muhammed Ssenoga, Meddie Kibirige, Geoffrey Goffin Oyirwoth, Andrew Kiwanuka, Nasser Lukwago, Derrick Ssekiranda and Martin Ssenkooto are the new signings.
Whereas midfielder Amir Kakomo, goalkeeper Said Keni and defenders Kiggundu and Joseph Nsubuga were all handed new contracts.
