Former Wakiso Giants forward, Karim Ndugwa together with former Bright Stars defender Innocent Ramos Asiimwe jetted off on the night of Thursday, January 28, 2021, to Horseed Sports Club of Somalia.
Ndugwa was among the quintette released by the Purple Sharks five games into the 2020-21 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
Others include Gaddafi Wahab, Osman Miraji, Ivan Sebujuzi, and goalkeeper Emmanuel Katende in the ongoing transfer market.
“We are pleased to invite you (Ndugwa and Assimwe) and welcome you to join our team.” the letter signed by Horseed Sports Club president, Ahmed Mohamed Hassan quoted before adding.
“We invite you in reference to our discussion regarding the player’s offer with Horseed Sports Club in the Somalia Premier League,” it adds.
According to the letter, towering forward Ndugwa was officially invited to Horseed SC in Mogadishu, Somalia where he is required to report with a valid negative test certificate on arrival.
If the deal materialise, Ndugwa will have his second stint outside the Uganda Premier League having previously featured for AFC Leopards in Kenya.
He also previously played for Express FC, SC Villa, Victors FC, Uganda Revenue Authority FC, Mbarara City FC, and Onduparaka before joining Wakiso Giants.
Ndugwa’s move comes in shortly after Ugandan tactician Alex Isabirye has parted ways with Somalian side Horseed SC which he earlier joined in October 2020.
Isabirye has been replaced by yet another Ugandan tactician Simon Ddungu.
Horseed SC is a football club based in Horseed, Somalia. The club was founded in 1971 by Lt. Col Mohamed Ahmed Alim, who started the Somali Armed Forces Sports directorate recruiting from the ranks of the Army. It has clinched the Somalia League title seven times.
