Freshly unveiled on a two-year contract at Bugesera FC, former KCCA defender Kato Samuel Nemeyimana was adamant in believing that his move to the Rwandan outfit is a giant stride towards bettering his football career.
The lofty defender left KCCA FC following a mutual agreement between both parties to part ways and bring to an end, an adventure that started in 2019.
This he excitedly mentioned in the aftermath of the unveiling procedure at the Rwandan topflight club on Friday, September 17, 2021.
“I can not wait to get started, to meet my new teammates and see how I fit in. I needed this deal, it has come at the right moment and it is a big step in my career,” he told Football256.
The former Buddo Secondary School player is however scared that a number of the Lugogo faithful might not understand his decision and the manner in which he left the club but he had to do it nonetheless.
“Many will not understand my decision to join Bugesera but they will in the near future, it means so much to me than what many think,” he highlighted.
‘I will always be grateful to Buddo SS and KCCA FC for the foundation they laid for me, I wouldn’t be here if it was not for them,” he summed in gratitude.
The 22-year old, who will don jersey number five at his new home, actively participated and won the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup with KCCA under the stewardship of Mike Hillary Mutebi.
He also featured in the 2018/19 CAF Champions League with the ‘Kasasiro Boys,’ playing two games in their journey to the group stages.
He would also play four games in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2019 and twenty-four games in the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League season. A season that was uncharacteristic for the Lugogo side.
In their bid to better their eighth-place finish of the 2020/21 season, the Eastern Province side have added a number of other new names in preparation for the 2021/22 campaign.
They have signed Sadicky Sulley, Jean De Dieu Nsabimana, Bryan Muhinda., Patrick Umwungeri and Abdul Muniru. Others are Obed Kagaba and Jackson Baransananikiye.
