It will be a match to remember when Wakiso Giants host Kyetume FC at Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe in the StarTimes FUFA Big League. The blockbuster battle as both sides looking at finishing on top the league at the end of the season.
On 32 points, Wakiso Giants top the 11 teams log, six points above second-placed Kyetume and the former is optimistic of collecting maximum points on Thursday.
“It will be a tough game against a good side but we are ready and the target is to pick maximum points, what happened in the past game isn’t important,” Wakiso Giants head coach Ibrahim Kirya told this website.
Kyetume knocked Wakiso Giants out of the Stanbic Uganda Cup 4-1 on penalties to proceed to the semifinals of the tournament in Nakisunga.
The Purple Sharks are boosted by the return of Norman Ogik and Hakim Ssenkumba ahead of the highly anticipated game.
Ogik missed the clash in the Uganda Cup as he was cup-tied but could walk straight into the starting team to partner Karim Ndugwa in the attack.
Ssenkumba got injured in the club’s 1-0 win over Bukedea TC more than a fortnight ago but is fully fit and available for selection.
Also available for selection is Ayub Kisaliita who hasn’t played since matchday 11 when he picked up an injury against Amuka Bright Stars.
“The trio’s return boosts us, I think Ssenkumba’s experience is important for us and Ogik provides that spark up front,” Kirya said.
However, Ashraf Ziraaba and Ali Magomu are all ruled out of the game through injury while Geoffrey Luutu is out due to sickness.
The Purple Sharks hope to open up a nine-point gap at the summit with victory over their closest rivals.
