It’s already obvious that KCCA FC’s only chance of silverware this season is winning the StarTimes Uganda Premier League, but Allan Okello prefers to put much emphasis on it probably for the other competitors.
The talented midfielder emphasized this to the media while at the pre-match press conference ahead of the away game to Bright Stars on Saturday at Champions Stadium Mwererwe, he knows things are getting harder.
“Things are becoming hard not like in the first round where teams were playing openly, now teams sit back and try to make life hard for us,” Okello said.
“But because we are the team fighting for the championship, we also must step up because this is the only chance we have for a silverware.”
“Right now the team is well prepared, and focused on the game in front of us, we are taking it one game at a time now because every game is a final,” Okello added.
Okello was part of the 2016/2017 league winning side that also went ahead and lifted the Uganda Cup, which was a maiden domestic double of the Lugogo side before defending the Uganda Cup last year.
KCCA come into Saturday’s game, with four wins and a draw in their five previous league games, Bright Stars on the other hand are without a win in their last five games, managing three draws and two losses in the process.
In the last ten meetings, KCCA have managed eight wins and two draws, Bright Stars yet to register a win.
KCCA FC tops the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 40 points three clear of second placed rivals Vipers who entertain SC Villa at Kitende, also on saturday.
