Vipers SC assistant coach Marcelo Cardoso has been absent for a host of games now leaving many wondering about his way about.
However, his boss Roberto Oliveira has confirmed that the Portuguese is away in Brazil due to personal reasons.
“Cardoso left for Brazil recently because he has problems with his family, ” Oliveira revealed to the media on Monday at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo.
The Brazilian tactician did not stipulate when he expects his deputy to return to Uganda but noted that during his absence the other coaches are doing a good job.
“For now I have coaches like Daniel Male, Ibrahim Kato, and Ibrahim Mugisha and they have the potential to support me in very many aspects,” he noted.
Oliveira and Cardoso were appointed head coach and assistant coach at Vipers respectively in August 2021.
They both signed a three-year contract meaning that they are left with one year and a half.
During their stay at Kitende so far, they have been successful, winning the Uganda Cup in their maiden season, and the Uganda Premier League in the second season.
And recently they have been able to guide Vipers to the group stages of the CAF Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.
