When Maroons FC announced Charles Ayiekoh as new head coach replacing Douglas Bamweyana, he came along with two other members as part of his technical team including goalkeeping coach Moses Oloya alias ‘Hugo Boss’.
Arguably one of the best goalkeeping coaches in the land, Oloya has already set his targets for the club custodians Hannington Ssebwalunnyo and Emmanuel Akol in the remaining five games in the league.
It should be noted that Maroons FC has conceded more goals in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (41), than any other club this season a feat Oloya wants to quickly improve in the last five games he will be at the Prisons side.
“We have come in at a very tricky time but as a teacher, such situations make us think outside the box for the best,” he told Football256.
“And because of that, I am here to help the goalkeepers improve and give their best in the last five games so that the club can survive relegation.”
“For the two days I have been with the goalkeepers I have already worked on some important aspects like communication. I realized they were lacking in that regard, and I hope they quickly grasp onto it come matchdays.”
“But of course, this is will still be worked upon with the rest of the coaches and the rest of the players,” he added.
The former KCCA FC, Vipers SC, and Onduparaka goalkeeping coach also revealed that he opted to keep the club’s serving goalkeeping coach Tezigwa Ken Rogers, who he hopes still has something to offer the club.
“Rogers is a young lad with a very promising future so working under me will definitely help him learn a lot as he continues building his career as goalkeeper coach,” he continued.
Oloya and Ayiekoh will face their first test against Kyetume FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round 16 this Friday in Jinja.
Then they will embark on the real mission to save the club from relegation when they visit fellow relegation strugglers Police FC in the league on May 6.
The Luzira based side currently sit 14th on the log, on 22 points from 25 games.
