Onduparaka FC are steps away from completing the signing of three players as they make amends for the mass exodus witnessed at the club earlier last month but also bolster their squad ahead of the 2021/22 season.

Information reaching Football256 desk indicates that the West Nile giants have agreed on personal terms with lethal striker Shaban Muhammad, defender Ivan Okello and youngster James Jarieko.

According to West Nile Sports website, the Caterpillars have been asked to cough close to USD 20,000 by Vipers SC if they wish to finalise the acquisition of their former skipper.

Shaban joined Vipers SC in 2019 following a failed adventure at Moroccan side Raja Casablanca but spent the entirety of his first year nursing a knee injury.

He bounced back in the 2020/21 season and excited fans with a goal on his league debut with the Venoms away to Wakiso Giants at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

That particular highlight was to be the only during his stay with the club because his working relationship with then head coach Fred Kajoba drowned as the season progressed.

This was also coupled with allegations of vandalizing property at the St Mary’s Stadium (breaking a window) which manifests the true index of his character as a player especially involving discipline.

Shaban’s insubordination won him a suspension at the club but most importantly, a fall of grace thus no surprise that the hierarchy at Kitende is contemplating on shipping him off to any suitors.

He will however relish another opportunity to re-define and rediscover his mojo that saw him ascend to the top of Ugandan football in the event that the deal is finalized.

The Caterpillars are also chasing Ivan Okello’s signature from Big League side Blacks Power in a bid to beef up their backline and to add quality to the team.

Okello captained the Bukedea based side and guided them to FUFA Big League play-offs, almost playing each and every game of the recently concluded campaign.

His attributes have an inclination to great ball play, aerial prowess, hard tackling skill-set and good leadership manifested in his commander at the back.

Jarieko is the third name that has been reported to appear on the radar of the Onduparaka wishlist. The youngster was part of the U17 team that represented Uganda in the U-17 AFCON.

He has also played for Paidha Black Angels where he enjoyed the yields of leadership with the captain’s armband. He will offer the team options upfront as a forward.

Meanwhile, the Caterpillars finished 12th with 28 points from 26 games played on a 16-team log in the 2020/21 Uganda Premier league campaign.
