Mbarara City came into their StarTimes Uganda Premier League tie against Onduparaka boasting of the best home record at Kakyeka Stadium.
They hadn’t lost a game there, in ten games they had won eight and drawn just twice against KCCA FC and URA.
However Onduparaka bounced back from the 2-1 defeat against Proline in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 and walked the talk with a 2-1 win at the fiercest ground in the league currently.
Its skipper Hillary Mukundani who powered the Ankole Lions ahead with a powerful header off Paul Mucureezi corner in the 19th minute.
Mukundani’s counterpart Rashid Toha responded in similar fashion as he leveled matter for the visitors in the 54 minute.
The game was still up for grabs with just 13 minutes left on the clock and Caesar Okhuti grabbed the opportunity to give Onduparaka the lead and eventually the three points.
It was Mbarara’s first loss at home this season and Onduparaka’s fourth win on the road where they have had a mixture of results.
Onduparaka started their road trips brightly with wins against SC Villa (0-1) and Kirinya Jinja SSS (0-3).
However along the way the level of consistency dipped, the results were followed by a barren draw against Tooro United in Buhinga before a 2-1 loss at the hands of Maroons in Luzira.
They defeated Express 2-0 at the Betway Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku, that followed a run of three straight defeats against BUL (0-1), URA (3-1) and Vipers (0-3).
