StarTimes Uganda Premier League club Onduparaka FC has unveiled a strategic partnership with Ugandan sports betting company Aba Bet as the club’s headline sponsor.
The partnership will last for three years and is valued at UGX 625 million with Aba Bet taking over the shirt sponsorship rights.
Aba Bet have also been granted the stadium naming rights for the Green Light Stadium, which will be referred to as the Aba Bet Green Light Stadium for the duration of the partnership.
Speaking during the launch of the partnership, Onduparaka Marketing and Communications Officer Mercy Manduru stressed the need to have such a big partner on board, especially during the pandemic period.
“This is a very important day for us as a club,” Manduru told media, adding; “Today we take a step forward in the development of the football club as we re-emphasize the values and traditions of this football club.”
“This partnership is not like the usual partnerships we have had before, and we are proud of all our partners current and past.”
“Just like Aba Bet, we have moved from the bottom to where we are currently, and we do not take anything for granted.”
“It has been two years since we last had a sponsor for the club, and we are very grateful to Aba Bet for coming on board at such a time and we are very pleased to welcome them on board,” she added.
Aba Bet head of Marketing and Communications officer Prince Kangume Pickton noted the shared values between Onduparaka and Aba Bet as the foundation stone for a successful partnership.
“Aba Bet is company which has been nurtured in the country, and at this point we need to grow and spread our wings and that is the reason why we chosen Onduparaka,” he stated.
“We started from the grassroots and that is a value we share with this club and that satisfies our need to also identify with the Onduparaka family and the community at large.”
“We believe that with such strategic partnerships, we do not only contribute to the growth of the club, but also contribute to strengthening the values of what the club stands for.”
“As we have seen in the unveiling movie, the proverb if you want to go far, move together, and we believe that we can move as far with Onduparaka FC,” he continued.
The club which seemed to be in free fall last season as financial struggles threatened to drive them down can now look to a brighter future with Aba Bet joining other partners including MTN.
Recently, the club announced that they had renewed their partnership with telecommunication company MTN Uganda.
