KCCA maintained their perfect start to the 2020/21 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season as they annihilated Onduparaka 8-0 in what is becoming a traditional mauling at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Tuesday.

New signing Brian Aheebwa continued his scoring spree, bagging four goals on the day and took his season tally to five goals, with partner Sam Ssenyonjo also completing his own hattrick.

Herbert Achai scored the other goal as the Kasasiro Boys registered the biggest winning margin in the league since 2010 when Proline defeated Hoima Busia 8-1.

KCCA head coach Mike Mutebi made one change to the line up that started against Bright Stars, handing returning midfielder Gift Ali his first start of the season ahead of Italian Stefano Mazengo.

The Kasasiro Boys who played perhaps their easiest game as the Caterpillars challenged them the least went ahead in the 18th minute.

Clever interplay between Ssenyonjo and Aheebwa set up the latter who raced through on goal before firing his effort into the roof of the net.

Five minutes later,a long ball from Achai just beyond the center mark caught out goalkeeper Austin Opoka who had strayed off his line.

In the 29th minute, a quick counter attack following a long clearance from Denis Iguma – as Onduparaka appealed for a penalty – landed on Aheebwa who did well to hold off his marker and tee-up Ssenyonjo to tap into bottom corner.

With half time looming, Aheebwa and Ssenyonjo again combined with Aheebwa’s shot parried into the path of Ssenyonjo to tap in KCCA’s fourth in the 38th minute.

At the stroke of half time, Samson Kigozi was brought down inside the penalty area with Aheebwa stepping up to score his second on the day.

KCCA returned with more hunger for the second half, beating Opoka for the sixth time, two minutes into the second half, Kezironi Kizito’s through ball picked up Ssenyonjo to complete his hattrick.

Aheebwa capped a brilliant day with two more goals in the 65th minute and 74th minute to take his tally for the season to five goals.

This was the fourth time that Onduparaka has conceded four or more goals at Lugogo. The Caterpillars are yet to win at Lugogo in six games.

Ssenyonjo and Aheebwa became the third and fourth KCCA players to score three or more goals in the fixture.

KCCA reclaim top spot in the league with six points from their two games and will look to maintain their perfect start when they host Mbarara City on Friday.

Onduparaka and coach Vialli Bainomugisha will want to bounce back straight from the disappointment against Tororo based MYDA on Friday.
