Peter Onen intends to make an overhaul at newly promoted StarTimes Uganda Premier League, side Blacks Power FC.

Onen will soon be announced as the new head coach of the Lira-based side to replace Vialli Bainomigisha whose one-year contract expired upon guiding the club to their maiden promotion to the SUPL.

“We are looking at someone well versed with the league and also the environment in Northern Uganda, that is how Onen comes into the picture,” Edison Sabasaba Blacks Power CEO told Football256.

In joining the club, Onen wants to do a thorough examination of the available players because of his interest in bringing in players that he has worked with previously, this website has learnt.

This website further understands that the above is the reason why players have been told to report back for pre-season training this early.

But, when this reporter asked Sabasaba about the development, he noted that they just intend to be fast as far as their preparations for a new experience are concerned.

“Blacks Power has its way of doing things. We are not going to operate like any other team because playing in the SUPL is going to be a new experience for us.”

“We need to prepare as early as possible and get ready for this new chapter,” Sabasaba noted.

Having earned the team its first-ever promotion to Uganda’s top-tier division, one would think that the club should be loyal to the players.

“Yes, everyone acknowledges what these players did but, this is a whole new level of the game much as some players will stay, others will not.”

“We need to mix up the team with both players that have SUPL experience and those that will be retained,” Sabasaba stated.

It is reported that only Mike Siwu could be retained as Onen plots to bring in over 21 new faces.

Blacks Power earned a promotion to the SUPL as champions of the 2021/22 FUFA Big League.
