Nkumba University head coach Sulaiman Bbosa is optimistic that his side will finish on top of Group B in the 2022 Pepsi University Football League.

On Monday Nkumba defeated the University of Kisubi 2-0 in Entebbe on Monday with Biko Bage and Anthony William Amure scoring in the second stanza of the game as Nkumba completed a double over their area code rivals.

Victory for Nkumba left them in second place level on nine points with leaders Makerere University Business School who have a better goal difference and a game in hand.

“We have so far played four games and won three and we have with nine points, we have brightened our qualification chances,” Bbosa noted.

“As it stands we need to win the remaining two games, we shall continue taking it step by step, and hopefully we can top the group,” he added.

Kisubi who finished the game with ten men after Zaxious Kibirige was shown a red card in the last quarter of the game remain third on three points.

Muni University who has no point but has a game in hand is bottom of the group and both teams are nearly out of the competition.

Action in the University League will return on Wednesday with a Group D contest between St. Lawrence University and Mbarara University of Science and Technology at Crown City Campus, Kavule.
