The defending champions of the Pepsi University Football League, Uganda Christian University (UCU) have been drawn against the 2017 champions Uganda Martyrs University in this year’s semifinal draw.
At the draws held at Kati Kati Restaurant in Lugogo on Thursday, the last edition’s runners-up St Lawrence University were also paired, but with one-time winners Kyambogo University.
UCU and SLAU will host UMU and Kyambogo respectively in the first-leg games which will be played between October 18th and 20th.
The second-leg ties will be played between October 25th and 27th with UMU and Kyambogo playing as hosts respectively.
Road to the semifinals
Champions UCU topped Group A with 13 points before eliminating Nkumba University 3-0 on aggregate in the quarterfinals.
UCU’s semifinal opponent UMU collected 12 points at the summit of Group E and ejected Bugema University 3-2 on aggregate in the quarterfinals.
SLAU finished top of Group D having gathered 11 points hence earning a quarterfinal slot.
In the last eight, the Kavule-based outfit saw off two-time winners Kampala University 5-1 aggregate.
The 2018 winners Kyambogo qualified for the last eight as leaders of Group C with seven points.
In the quarterfinals, Kyambogo dumped out two-time champions Makerere University Business School 4-1 in the penalty shootouts following a 3-3 stalemate on aggregate.
