Kyambogo University will be hoping to pick their first victory of the 2022 Pepsi University Football League when they host Bishop Stuart University (BSU) on Thursday.

The encounter slated for Kyambogo University Grounds comes after the hosts only managed a 2-2 stalemate with Kabale University in their opening match a week back, but, will play for three points at least according to head coach Deo Sserwadda.

“The game with Kabale was a hard one. But the boys showed good character in coming from two goals down to secure a draw,” said Sserwadda to the media ahead of Thursday’s meeting.

“Against Bishop Stuart, I know we shall be able to do well as we are at home,” a buoyant Sserwadda added.

“We have many young players and most of them have never played in the league, so they are still settling in,” he explained.

“But with each game that we play, we shall get better and I know we can go all the way to the final and even lift the trophy,” he roared.

The two sides last met in 2017 with Kyambogo winning both games home and away. However, Bishop Stuart coach John Mutabaruka is confident they will do better on this occasion.

“Of course, it will not be an easy game against Kyambogo. They are a good team and I saw they played well against Kabale,” he expressed caution while speaking to the media.

“But I think we have a chance against them. The boys are ready and confident and we should be able to get a good result. They should not expect an easy game from us. We are going to go all out,” Mutabaruka added.

Kyambogo and Kabale are joint leaders in the three-team Group C with a point apiece after one game. Bishop Stuart will be playing their maiden game in the 2022 edition.
