Despite winning the pitch battle against Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Kyambogo (KYU) will not play in the semi-finals of the 2022 University Football League (UFL).
The Banda-based institution had dumped out the former in the quarterfinals via penalty shootouts, having tied 3-3 after 180 minutes.
However, due to their unacceptable naivety, playing goalkeeper Amir Serugo as Andrew Ahebwomugisha, a non-student, their last four bout with St Lawrence University (SLAU) won’t happen.
“Kyambogo was found to have used an impersonator during the MUBS Vs Kyambogo quarterfinal second leg of 11th October 2022,” partly reads a Tuesday statement from the UFL Disciplinary Panel.
“Person who played as Andrew Ahebwomugisha was actually Amir Serugo,” it notes before unearthing the dagger.
“Kyambogo loses the match to MUBS by forfeiture (3-0),” it stabs before adding; “Kyambogo Sports Tutor fined ugx.300,000.”
However, they have a chance to appeal the Panel’s decision within 48 hours after the latter charges.
In case the appeal is unsuccessful, MUBS will take on SLAU in what will by all standards produce pulsating action.
