Former Pepsi University Football League champions, Uganda Martyrs University have won all their home games in this year’s edition.

Head coach Eric Kisuze is hopeful that this will continue when they host defending champions Uganda Christian University in the second leg of the semifinals in Nkozi on Thursday.

“The fact that we have not lost a game at home so far this season is a great motivation for us and I know with the support of our fans we shall make it,” Kisuze said ahead of the game before adding.

“Although we were defeated in the first leg in Mukono I was very happy with the way we played.”

“Irrespective of the results, the boys put up a strong display and we have polished the areas where we didn’t do well and we are ready for the game,” he added.

Isaac Ofoyrwoth scored the only goal of the first leg, ensuring that UCU win 1-0 and come into the second leg with the advantage.

“We hold the advantage but it is still an open contest and we should be careful against UMU who are a good team,” Collins Ahumuza UCU head coach noted.

“Everyone knows what is at stake and we shall go all out and capitalize on the first leg win to ensure that we win the second leg and go to the final.”

UCU will be without their marksman Ofoyrwoth who did not only score, but was also shown a red card.

Similarly, Kennedy Kasozi will also be absent on the UMU side because he was also sent off in the first leg.

UCU are looking forward to advancing to the final for the second straight campaign given that they went all the way and won it in the last edition.

On the other hand, UMU will be hoping to overturn the first-leg deficit and reach their maiden final since 2017 when they won their first and last UFL title.

The victor between UMU and UCU on aggregate will face the winner between St. Lawrence University and Makerere University Business School.

The first leg encounter between SLAU and MUBS ended 2-1 in favour of the former in Kavule on Tuesday and they will meet again next week on Tuesday in Nakawa for the second leg.
