Before the game against International University of East Africa, the Pepsi University Football League defending champions, Uganda Christian University had managed only five goals in three games.
This left head coach Mwera Kintu worried given that his side would create plenty of goal-scoring chances but their conversation rate was low.
However, they managed to come from a goal down as they thrashed IUEA 4-1 in their backyard in Mukono on Friday, their highest score this season.
“We wanted to win today but differently, because we needed goals. In our previous games, we did not score enough despite always creating many chances,” Kintu said after the game before adding.
“Even today we could have scored more because again we created many chances but that is something we can keep improving on just like we have done today.”
“I am impressed by the fact that the goals have increased and that is how we should play all the remaining games. We are not yet through but our chances have increased so let us keep focused,” he added.
UCU took its point tally to 10 after four games and they top Group A followed by Kumi University who are on seven points.
Victoria University occupies third place with three points while IUEA is placed at the bottom without a single point.
