Vipers SC head coach Roberto Oliveira alias ‘Robertinho’ has capped his scintillating 2021/22 Uganda Premier League season with a fourth Coach of the month award.
The Brazilian shrugged off competition from Gaddafi FC’s Mubarak Wamboya and BUL FC’s Alex Isabirye to win May’s finest at an event held at Kati Kati Restaurant, Lugogo on Thursday.
The tactician guided the Venoms to three victories in four matches in the same month where they were crowned champions of the campaign. The other was a barren stalemate with record-holders SC Villa.
The Kitende side beat Onduparaka FC 2-0, drew with Villa 0-0, and narrowly defeated Wakiso Giants 2-1 before they humiliated Police FC 5-0 on the final day.
“It has not been easy,” said the coach upon receiving the award accompanied by a one million shillings cheque.
“To win four awards is awesome but the team tried, we put in a lot of hard work, and eventually ended the season as we wanted,” he added.
Worth noting, however, that Robertinho received a record seven nominations for all the months the awards were held in the preceding season.
Meanwhile, for the Player of the month award, URA FC’s Cromwell Rwothomio was the victor, beating off competition from Vipers’ Bobosi Byaruhanga and Police’s Frank Kalanda.
