Wakiso Giants head coach Kefa Kisala has an opportunity to test his team in the Pilsner Super 8 ahead of the 2019/2020 season.
The former Express and BUL FC coach is optimistic the tournament that run from July 24th to August 24th 2019 is the ideal preparations.
“The Super 8 tournament is a good test for Wakiso Giants as we are preparing for our maiden season in the Uganda Premier League,” Kisala told www.football-256.com during the launch of this year’s edition at Uganda Breweries in Luzira on Monday.
“We are well prepared and ready for the tournament because we have been training since July 1st, so my boys are ready for it,” he added.
The Purple Sharks were drawn against defending champions KCCA FC in a one-legged fixture in Wakiso, KCCA won last year’s edition with a 2-0 victory against Onduparaka FC at Betway Muteesa ll Stadium in Wankulukuku.
The winner between Wakiso Giants and KCCA FC will book a slot in the semifinals of the competition. This year’s edition saw the prize money increased from UGX 30 million to UGX 68 million.
The winning team will walk away with UGX 20 million, the runners up UGX 12 million, third-placed UGX 10 million and the fourth-placed team will walk away with UGX 8 million.
The fifth up to the eighth-ranked teams will walk away with UGX 6 million, UGX 5 million, UGX 4 million and UGX 3 million respectively.
