And StarTimes Uganda Premier League players will have that boost after Pilsner Lager joined hands with the Uganda Premier League to reward the man of the match for every league game.
The beer company will also reward the coach and player of the month with a plaque and Shs1M, while every man of the match with bag Shs100,000/= and a plaque.
The deal worth Shs450 over three years will see the awards named after the beer brand with the man of the match award called Pilsner Man of the Match with the monthly awards called Pilsner Player of the Month and Pilsner Coach of the month respectively
Speaking at the launch of the awards on Tuesday morning in Luzira, UPL board chairman Arinaitwe Rugyedo welcomed their new partners on board and believes they came around at the same time.
“We are in the right direction to develop the game and I want to welcome Pilsner who are here to make sure the build the brand that is still growing.”
“As UPL we urge stakeholders to welcome and appreciate with initiative especially the players and coaches. Because without them this growing brand can’t go places,” Rugendyo added.
The first recipient of the Pilsner player of the month was striker Joel Madondo of Kirinya Jinja SS who scored six goals in the month of October while Vipers coach Javier Espinoza was voted the Pilsner Coach of the Month
