Police Football Club has announced a new deal for starlet Musa Matovu that will run at least until the end of the 2021/22 season.
The 20-year-old left midfielder has committed to a two-year contract, with an option for a further year.
“It’s a pleasure having renewed my contract with the club. I learnt a lot from the previous season and can’t wait for the next one.”
“I am assuring everyone of great displays next season because I got everything it takes.”
“I am using this COVID-19 pandemic period and the suspension of football to work upon myself so as to improve on my performance,” Matovu told the club’s media.
Matovu was involved in four games for the Cops last season, starting just once in the 2-1 victory over URA FC in the final game of the season before the season was put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Aspire Academy, Qatar graduate scored one goal in Police’s 4-0 drubbing of Tooro United in November 2019.
Police FC Chief Executive Officer Fahad Lumu noted: “We are beefing our team to consolidate our advantage especially the young blood. We can’t start from scratch but somewhere.”
“Our fans should expect a competitive display as the team is comprised of youngsters and experienced players.”
Matovu started his football journey as a youngster with Kampala Football Club in 2008 before departing the club for Qatar based Aspire Soccer Academy in 2013.
He spent five years in Qatar together with Wakiso Giants midfielder Hassan Ssenyonjo before returning in 2018 and joining Police FC where he has spent the last three seasons.
