KCCA FC assistant coach Morley Byekwaso is a worried man, not because he will be on the touchline alone again, it’s because his team scoring rate is something to worry about.
Morley made the revelation at the club’s pre-match press conference ahead of the away game to Bright Stars on Saturday in Mwererwe with a staggering record of 35 goals scored this season, no team has scored more.
“The team has always been preparing well, we however have issues with our finishing and it cost us some games but we are ready for Bright Stars, they are stubborn at home but we shall do our best,” Byekwaso said at the press conference.
In their previous encounter against Onduparaka FC, the Kasasiro Boys found it hard to find the back of the net, not until Allan Kyambadde was fouled in the area.
KCCA FC was awarded with a penalty, Patrick Kaddu stepped in to score an all-important goal for the home team.
Before that, the 12 time league champions had settled for a barren draw against Mbarara City, they also struggled to beat URA at Namboole, they needed an effort from defender and Skipper Timothy Awany to bury the game.
KCCA FC take on a Bright Stars, who only claim to fame in this fixture was a point they picked at Lugogo last season and another in the 2014/2015 season.
KCCA FC have won nine of the 11 meetings, a 10th can only be possible if they can take care of strikers Nelson Ssenkatuka and Brian Kayanja, the two have been Bright Stars’ go-to guys in front of goals all season.
The Lugogo based side will still miss the services of midfielders Gift Ali, Herbert Achai, Saddam Juma and Ssenjobe Eric due to injuries but will hope that lead striker Patrick Kaddu can find his scoring touch again.
The support cast of Allan Okello, Julius Poloto, Mustafa Kizza, Muzamir Mutyaba and the rest can step up and avoid being bullied at Mwererwe.
KCCA FC tops the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League with 40 points three clear of second placed rivals Vipers with about 13 games to go.
Bright Stars meanwhile are fresh from picking up point away against Villa, Fred Kajoba’s side are hoping to rely on home advantage to get Maximum points. The Mwererwe based side sit 9th on 22 points and will rely on Nelson Ssenkatuka for the goals.
