Express FC head coach George Ssimwogerere hailed his side after their 2-0 win over Paidha Black Angels at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku on Tuesday.
Two second-half goals from substitutes Tony Odur and Michael Birungi gave the home team all three points, it was George Ssimwogerere’s first win at home in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Odur scored the opener for the home team from the spot after 68 minutes after Disan Galiwango was fouled in the area before Birungi scored the second with a powerful shot two minutes to full time.
“It is the three points which matter but not the possession, possessing without winning is useless, we think about the win first,” Ssimwogerere said after the game.
“We have performed well because we have got the win, the pressure at home is always high but my players did the best,” he added.
The win was Express’ first on in four games after going three consecutive games without winning in StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Express is now ninth on the 16 team log with 32 points and four games to go, they now look safe from relegation, Paidha remained at the bottom of the table with just 12 points.
The Red Eagles will be back in action on April 11th against bitter rivals SC Villa at at home, Paidha’s next league game is against KCCA at home on April ninth.
