For Bright Stars FC’s incredible run in April, head coach Baker Mbowa and striker Samuel Ssekamatte have been named the Pilsner Coach and Player of the Month respectively.
The two were awarded at a ceremony held at Kati Kati restaurant in Lugogo on Monday morning.
Mbowa recieved his first coach of the month award after guiding Bright Stars to five victories and a single draw in the six StarTimes Uganda Premier League games they played in April.
They defeated third-placed Express FC, fourth-placed KCCA FC and also picked up a point against table leaders URA FC.
Kitara FC, MYDA FC and Wakiso Giants FC were the other three victories for Mbowa’s men during the month.
Mbowa beat Vipers SC head coach Fred Kajoba to the award who was looking for his second monthly award of the season having won it in February.
Mbowa takes over from URA’s Sam Ssimbwa who was the coach of the month for March.
Ssekamatte, meanwhile, was named the month’s top player in the UPL after scoring six goals in six games in April with his current tally at 10 league goals.
He was chosen over Police’s Ben Ocen who was also in fine form scoring five in the previous month. Ssekamatte succeeds KCCA FC’s Sadat Anaku who won the accolade in March.
