Preview: Bengo hoping to keep the good times rolling with visit to flattened Maroons

By Football256 Team

Wakiso Giants interim coach Steven Bengo seems to have turned the fortunes around at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium ever since taking over the helms, following the departure of Kefa Kisala.

Bengo has been in charge of three games in which period he has garnered two wins, with their only defeat coming away at the St. Mary’s stadium in a 1-0 reverse to the current title contenders.

This period has also seen the upturn of players such as pint sized forward Vianne Sekajugo and imposing striker Karim Ndugwa who have both bagged two goals since Bengo took charge.

Bengo acknowledges the enormity of the task that lies ahead, but maintains that his team do have enough to pick up three points.

“They have had a good season so far and they are a difficult opponent, but we go into the game confident after two wins on the bounce and we shall do all to pick all points,” Bengo told the club’s official website.

“The boys are focused and want to end the first round on a high which gives us coaches optimism, he added.

Now Bengo takes the Purple Sharks to visit Maroons who due to a Uganda Premier League injunction against then hosting league games at their Luzira Maximum Prisons Stadium, will see them make do with a trip to Njeru where they’ll host the game tomorrow at the FUFA Technical Center grounds.

This technically renders the fixture anyone’s game as if you may like, Maroons shall also be playing away from home thus implying that this match is there for the taking.

Maroons haven’t been at their best showing lately having drawn their last two games but Douglas Bamweyana can take heart from Steven Mukwala’s recent run if rich form.

Mukwala has been dominant, with the striker grabbing four goals in his last three games including a quick-fire brace in the dying minutes to down Police FC almost a fortnight ago.

Steven Bengo is aware of the threat the hosts pose but remains confident the team can pick a win on the road.

The game comes too soon for Yasin Mugume, Ayub Kisaliita and Tom Masiko who are still nursing injuries. Yasin Mugabi also remains a doubt after missing the game against Kyetume through injury.

The game is a classic mid-table encounter, pitting 7th against 6th, with one point separating the two sides though Wakiso Giants have played two games more.

A win for either side will take them within touching distance of Onduparaka while leapfrogging KCCA who host table leaders Vipers SC on Saturday.
