Preview: Bengo not dwelling on previous victory ahead of Kyetume encounter

By Shafic Kiyaga

We are near the halfway line of the 2019/2020 season and games tend to come in thick and fast, and every game carries more importance.

With Wakiso Giants caretaker boss Steven Bengo getting off the marks with his first career victory against Busoga United, he has called upon his charges not to dwell on the victory as they need to regroup quickly.

The Purple Sharks will visit fellow newcomers Kyetume FC at the Bombo Barracks grounds on Tuesday in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

“It was important winning against Busoga United but that is now behind,” Bengo told the club’s official website.

“We are playing against a very good side who will be eager to make amends after losing badly in Arua so we must be careful,” he added.

Both teams were in the same group as they gained promotion from the FUFA Big League, as well as clashing in an exciting game in the Stanbic Uganda cup quarterfinals which Kyetume won 4-2 on penalties.

The slaughters and the Purple sharks are level on points on the league table with 16 points, but Kyetume are ahead of Wakiso courtesy of a better goal difference.

The visitors will be without captain and goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi who was subbed off in the 15th minute after suffering a nasty cut on the eye against Busoga United. Tom Masiko, Ayub Kisaliita and Yasin Mugume will also be of the game.

Hakim Ssenkumba and Krizestom Ntambi are huge doubts for the game after suffering niggly knocks during training.

Kyetume will rely on the experienced heads of striker Robert Ssentongo, captain Vincent Kayizzi in attack, while Jonathan Mugabi and Benson Tahomera will provide cover at the back.

This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides. With all the previous three ending in stalemates.

Bengo and Wakiso will hope they can break their winless away run, picking up a single draw on the road. Kyetume have won three and lost as many home games.
