Record Uganda Premier League Champions SC Villa make the trip to Luzira to visit home side Maroons FC, at the Prisons Grounds, on match day nine of the Star Times Uganda Premier League.

The game is anticipated to provide an exciting, pound for pound action, but the focus will be on the dug-out, as Maroons coach Douglas Bamweyana meets his former side, now under his successor Edward Kaziba.

Bamweyana was the man the Jogoo turned to when they feared for the worst, as they flirted with relegation. The coach despite not being able to completely turn around the club’s fortunes, but he ensured they stay afloat with two games to spare.

His payment, was getting the sack and betrayal from his bosses and the players, days after the club’s survival was ensured.

With Bamweyana gone, Kaziba stepped in, and if the former was considered a savior, Kaziba is surely the knight in shining armour, as he has completely changed the fortunes at the club, as they rose meteorically up the table to second, and the good days seem not far from a return to Villa park.

But Bamweyana has also found his footing at the Prisons side, overturning their struggles last season, assembling a completely new side, and then overseeing a rise to fifth on the log.

The two have already been in contention against each other, with Bamweyana coming out top after being voted the September’s coach of the month, beating Kaziba.

On the field, Bamweyana prefers a more expansive style of play, encouraging his sides to press without the ball and continuous movement on it. While Kaziba has applied a more rigorous style, with relentless pressing and fast build ups to attack.

Maroons will be Seeking their first win over Villa in six encounters, the Jogoo winning three while the other three have ended in stalemates. But Villa have not tested defeat since their 1-0 win over Kyetume in the opening game of the league.

Steven Mukwala has often come to the fore for the hosts, and scored a late winner in their game against Mbarara. Mukwala has set up an exciting partnership with Rashid Agau upfront, and the pair will of great influence once again.

In the midfield, Ronald Orombi and Junior Amanya have enjoyed some dominant performances this season, but how they fare against tireless midfield of Amir Kakomo and David Owori will be interesting to look out for.

Talisman Bashir Mutanda is yet to score a goal this season, and was a late substitute against Wakiso Giants on Wednesday as he carried a knock. He seems to be fully fit once and might start upfront with Emmanuel Kalyowa.
