Defending Champions KCCA are 11 points behind table leaders and rivals Vipers SC as the 2019/2020 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season hits the halfway mark.
The champions however do have four games in hand, with the encounter against Kyetume FC at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo, tomorrow (Saturday) the first of those games in hand.
The hosts head into the game off the back of mixed results, settling for a 1-all stalemate in their last game against URA, after picking up a 1-0 victory over Vipers SC.
On the other hand, the slaughters have not won in any of their last three games, and once in the last five games. A run that has seen them ship in twelve goals, while they have scored just once in that period.
A change of guard at the touchline has not helped affairs, as the club are yet to score a goal since former coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe was replaced with caretaker David Katono Mutono…
Kyetume will look at picking up maximum points, to give them a better chance of maintaining their league status, as they lie 12th on the log, just four points off the relegation zone.
This will be the first league meeting between the two sides, and KCCA will have to make do without defenders Musa Ramathan, and forward Simon Sserunkuuma who has been accorded time out by the club to deal with his personal issues.
Long term absentee Saddam Juma whose return date is yet to be revealed. The rest of the squad is available for selection.
Football-256 player of the year Allan Okello will be raring to go again, his goal in the 67th minute in their last game against URA salvaged a point for KCCA.
Kyetume will hope that former KCCA striker Robert Ssentongo carries his scoring boots tomorrow. The UPL four time golden boot winner has so far failed to hit his usual scoring form, as he has scored just twice all season.
They also do have former Kasasiro boys in captain Vincent Kayizzi and Isaac Kirabira who have both won the UPL trophy recently under Mike Mutebi.
