Preview: Wakiso Giants invade Arua in quest for first away win

By Brian Aheebwa

As Wakiso Giants FC prepare for Wednesday’s trip to West Nile, they would not wish to bear in mind the truth about how their hosts Onduparaka FC perform at the Greenlight stadium.

The two will lock horns on Wednesday in matchday six of the 2019/2020 Star Times Uganda Premier League in Arua.

Since gaining promotion to the top-flight league in the 2015/2016 season, Greenlight stadium has been a no go zone area for the natives’ opponents.

Many have fallen there with the like of Vipers SC, Express FC, SC Villa and KCCA FC amongst others, though the latter two Villa and KCCA FC eventually broke the jinx.

Onduparaka will also be marking their return to their home ground from where they’ve not played since the start of the season.

The Caterpillars were among the seven teams that found it hard to pass the minimum FUFA licensing demands before the deadline.

Having won none of their away league games so far this season, losing to KCCA in their league opener and drawing the other against Bright Stars, the Purple Sharks can’t afford to slip again.

They will need to gather themselves together and see how they deal with the famous and fierce atmosphere of the Greenlight stadium.

Coming into Wednesday encounter, Kefa Kisala’s charges have collected seven points from five outings, lying sixth, two points behind their hosts who have collected nine points and occupy second position on the 16 team log.

Forward Vianney Sekajugo will be turning the trigger to who were his bosses before that summer switch to Kyabaggu Sports Stadium, he’s tipped to spearhead their striking force.

Veteran striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma is expected to lead the line once again despite his lack of form, counterpart Karim Ndugwa expected to make the bench although he has scored two league goals so far.

Onduparaka’s backline has conceded only one goal, coach Livingstone Mbabazi will be hopping his defenders continue with this kind from but also hope that striker Ceasor Okhuti can be an inspiration in front of goal.
