Ahead of the forthcoming 2022/23 Third Division Leagues, the local football governing body, FUFA has insisted on the classification of Proline FC as a member of the Buganda region.

FUFA claims Proline, who joined the third division after relegation from the Big League in the 2021/22 campaign, belongs to Buganda as they acquired Nalubaale FC, a Buikwe District outfit.

“FUFA takes this moment to clarify that Proline came to what it is through its acquisition of the then Nalubaale FC in 2009, resident in the Buikwe District Football Association in the Buganda Football Regional Associations (RFA),” partly said a FUFA letter dated August 25.

This has further been stamped by FUFA at their Executive Committee meeting on Monday.

“The FUFA Executive Committee approved that Proline FC plays in the Buganda Regional League for 2022/2023 season. Proline FC acquired Nalubaale FC that was started in Buikwe, Buganda region.”

The same statement later said: “However FUFA Exco advised Proline FC to apply for registration in the Kampala Regional League for the 2023/24 season.”

This was after Proline’s appeal that this waa out of touch with reality as they have been a Kampala Club throughout their existence.

“Since inception in 2006, Proline FC, with all its institutions including the Proline Soccer Academy has been based in Nakawa – Kampala where we have hosted all our games at Lugogo, and our offices are in Wandegeya, Kampala,” responded the club in a letter dated August 26.

Proline, in more defense, further backtracks FUFA’s justification of the placement, highlighting that upon the acquisition of Nalubaale, it was agreed in court that operations shift to Kampala from Buikwe.

“It was agreed that the team’s home venue and base of operations changes from Buikwe to Kampala.”

The Club goes on to highlight how their junior side has been classified as a Kampala team in the FUFA Junior League, but not the senior side.

“Proline has been classified by FUFA as a Kampala team and will be playing in Kampala Region as per the letter dated 12th August 2022 addressed to the Secretary General of Kampala RFA signed off by the Competitions Director.”

In further defense, the club says: “in the recently concluded FUFA elections, Proline were classified by FUFA as a Kampala Region-based team, along with Maroons FC and Water FC.”

With the Regional Leagues slated to commence on September 30, and with the deadline for submitting License requirements already gone (August 23), it awaits to be seen if the club will granted more time to fulfill the prerequisites.
