Egyptian money bags Pyramids FC have finally relieved French tactician Sebastien Desabre of his duties just five-month into his two-year contract.
Desabre joined Pyramids FC in July, just 24 hours after resigning from his role as Uganda Cranes head coach, following a successful AFCON Campaign in Egypt.
The decision to let Desabre go was confirmed by club director Hady Khashaba following a meeting with the club’s hierarchy.
Following Desabre’s departure, Pyramids have named Abdel-Aziz Abdel-Shafy as an interim manager with Mahmoud Fathallah as his assistant.
Earlier today, www.football256 reported that the former Uganda Cranes gaffer’s future at Pyramids was in the balance after the recent run of poor results.
The latest of those being a 3-2 home loss to relegation-threatened El-Gounah on Tuesday, December 17th days after they lost 2-0 to Zamalek.
Pyramids have won just once in their last five league games, with the victory coming in October against El-Entag El-Harby.
Despite losing 3-0 to Zamalek in the Egyptian cup final, Desabre guided Pyramids to the group stages of the 2019/2020 Total CAF Confederations Cup. Where they are top of Group A, after emphatic victories over Enugu Rangers and FC Nouadhibou.
Pyramids that is also home to Ugandan electric winger Abdu Lumala currently lie seventh on the log, with 12 points from eight games, six points behind log leaders Al-Ahly who have played two games less.
Former Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Micho Sredojevic was also relieved of his duties close to a fortnight ago by Zamalek FC.
