Raw SC Villa visit resilient Vipers

By Football256 Team

The record don’t favor SC Villa at all, neither does their current form as the record league holders visit StarTimes Uganda Premier League defending champions Vipers SC at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende this Saturday.

The relegation threatened side go to Kitende in search of their first win in six league outings this season, they have actually won just twice in 17 league games this season.

Villa’s last league win this season was the 2-0 win over arch rivals Express FC at Mandela National Stadium Namboole on December 14th 2018.

Since then, SC Villa have only managed three draws (Paidha Black Angels, Police FC and Bright Stars) and they have lost twice, against BUL FC and URA SC.

“We are going to face a Vipers side that is unbeaten, we are very aware of their strengths and we have prepared well to try and get a result, we are targeting all three points, we know it,” SC Villa coach Douglas Bamweyana told www.football-256.com

“It’s a fantastic rivalry between the two clubs, the most recently games have been intense on and off the pitch,” he added.

Meanwhile, Vipers have managed to register three wins and two draws from their last five league outings, the latest being a 1-0 away win against Nyamityobora FC.

In Bashir Mutanda, Villa have the leading league scorer on 10 goals, however his support cast has struggled to keep the momentum, Douglas Bamwyana seems to be struggling to get the best positions for some of his players.

Bamweyana’s back three will also be put to the test especially if the midfield fails to play at the principal of the game like he wants to.

Vipers have different scoring options, if Daniel Muzeyi Sserunkuma can’t deliver they can also find solace in Tito Okello and new signing Hamis Kizza Diego, Innocent Wafula is another who can offer pace and that creative spark on the right wing.

“SC Villa is a good team with a rich history in Ugandan football and we respect them but we are also ready for them,”  Vipers’ coach Micheal Nam Ouma told the club website before adding.

“They have the capacity to weather the storm but the Venoms are prepared and ready to fight for the much needed points.”

Vipers will be optimistically playing for maximum points in order to pound more pressure on table leaders KCCA FC, both teams are separated by three points.

It will be the 28th meeting between the two sides in the league, and Vipers boast of a better head to head winning 12, while Villa have won only five times, ten times have seen the game end in a stalement.
