Samuel Ssekamatte’s unstoppable form in April has earned him the Fortebet Real Star Player of the Month award.
Ssekamatte was impressive, scoring eight goals in eight games across all competitions for Bright Stars as they enjoyed a good run of results, winning five and drawing the other in their six league games played in April.
The fourth month of the year started very well for the forward with a brace in Bright Star’s 3-1 win against Kitara FC. Ssekamatte was then on target as they came from a goal down to defeat Wakiso Giants FC 3-2.
He made it five goals in a row when he scored in his side’s 3-0 and 2-1 wins against MYDA FC and Express FC.
Ssekamate also scored for Bright Stars when they beat Paidah Black Angels 3-1 in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, crowning the month with a brilliant free kick in their 2-0 win over KCCA FC.
In addition, Ssekamatte is Bright Stars’ top scorer on 11 goals in all competitions, 10 in the league and one in the Uganda Cup. With 10 league goals, he’s amongst the leading goal scorers so far.
Ssekamatte beat Uganda Premier League top scorer and Vipers SC striker Yunus Ssentamu Yunus Ssentamu and URA’s Shafic Kagimu.
Ssekamatte takes over from Police FC and Uganda Hippos’ forward Derrick Kakooza who won the award for March.
At the awarding ceremony held at Route256 restaurant in Lugogo on Tuesday morning, Rugby and Motorsport were the other two sports disciplines that were awarded.
Betway Kobs’ James Ijongat beat Pirates’ Ivan Magomu and Heathen’s Aziz Khan in the Rugby category.
In Motorsport, Jas Mangat beat Duncan Mubiru Kikankane and Hassan Alwi to the award.
