Eric Kambale has been named the player of the month for May at the Fortbet Real Star Awards ceremony held at Route256, Lugogo on Tuesday morning.
The Express striker scored eight goals in five league games in May where he only missed out on the scoresheet in the goalless draw against KCCA in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
He scored once against Police, bagged a hat trick against Kyetume, a brace against Busoga and also netted the only goal of the game against UPDF taking his tally to 15 goals only one behind leading goal scorer Yunus Ssentamu who is on 16.
Kambale beat goalkeeper and teammate Mathias Muwanga and URA’s Steven Mukwala who were also phenomenal in May keeping four clean sheets and scoring four goals respectively.
He takes over from Bright Stars’ forward Samuel Ssekamatte who won the accolade for the month on April.
At the same ceremony, outstanding performers from the games of hockey, basketball and athletics were also rewarded.
Wanainci SC’s Thomas Opio beat Weatherhead duo Timothy Ntumba and Charles Ekapolon to the hockey accolade.
Jacob Kiplimo emerged winner in the athletic category beating Joshua Cheptegei and Presca Achesa.
In the basketball category, it is KIU Taitans’ Ade Faisal who walked away with it at the expense of JKL Lady Dolphin’s Hope Akello and Ndejje Angels’ Samuel Ajaka.
