Uganda U17 and KCCA FC Junior Team striker Oscar Mawa has admitted that winning the December Fortebet Real Stars Award provides a deeper motivation for his career going forward.
The youngster received the December accolade beating his senior teammate Brian Aheebwa and Mawogola goalkeeper Micheal Lutaaya.
“I am delighted by this recognition because it gives me extra motivation going forward,” Mawa said after receiving his accolade at the award ceremony at the Copper Chimney restaurant on Tuesday.
“I am really humbled to receive this award for the best football in the month of December because I know many have performed but it’s always a privilege to emerge victor,” he added.
Mawa believes that whatever he achieved today is a great blessing from the Almighty God who gifted him the talent of playing soccer.
“I am really grateful for what I have achieved today and I want to thank God for this because it’s something that has motivated me heavily,” he said.
“I cannot forget my uncle, auntie and coaches for the tremendous work and support off the pitch. They are the reason as to why I look healthy and strong to play best in game of football”
“To my beloved school Gombe, they have given me quality football and have nurtured me to be the boy I am today I pray God blesses them abundantly,” he concluded.
Mawa put up and excellent performance for the Uganda Cubs at the CECAFA U17 Championship/ AFCON U17 zonal qualifiers, scoring six goals as he emerged as the top scorer at the tournament that took place in Rwanda.
In other categories awarded Racheal Ntono and Joseph Kasozi emerged as winners in the categories of Cricket and Golf respectively.
