Tanzanian outfit Mtibwa Sugar FC are reportedly interested in signing Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Charles Lukwago.
Lukwago currently features for St. George SC in Ethiopia, a side he joined in September 2021 from Uganda’s KCCA FC.
The 29-year-old signed a two-year contract and he is in his final year and could be on the move to Tanzania in the January transfer window.
Besides Mtibwa, reports also have it that Tanzanian giants Simba SC, Yanga SC, and Azam FC could also be interested in the custodian.
However, the goalkeeping positions at the three clubs look to be stable at the moment, and difficult for Lukwago to break through.
Simba have Tanzania’s number one Aishi Manula, Yanga have Mali’s Djigui Diarra backed by Tanzania’s second choice Abutwalib Hamad Mshery while Azam have Comoros first choice goal minder Ali Ahamada.
Mtibwa could well be Lukwago’s suitable suitor and he can ably compete with Shaaban Hassan Kado and Benedict Tinocco.
During his maiden season at St. George, Lukwago won the Ethiopian Premier League and best goalkeeper of the season award after keeping 18 clean sheets.
