On Monday Morning, only 11 players were present at Namboole Stadium as the Uganda Cranes resumed preparations for the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations.
Only six players from the local league get to make the squad, they include; Tadeo Lwanga and Moses Waiswa (all Vipers SC), Allan Kyambadde (KCCA FC), Sadam Ibrahim Juma, Timothy Awany and Kaddu Henry (all KCCA FC).
The others are Khalid Aucho, Bevis Mugabi, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda, Godfrey Walusimbi and Muleme Isaac.
According to the FUFA website, Charles Lukwago, James Alitho, Okello Allan, Balinya Juma, Mujuzi Musitafa and Dan Sserunkuma will resume training with the Cranes team preparing for the 2019 COSAFA Finals.
There is no room for Vipers’ Halid Lwaliwa, Egypt based Daniel Isiagi and Express left back Disan Galiwango on either the AFCON or COSAFA squad.
This week Desabre will name the 26-man squad that will camp in Abu Dhabi before heading to Egypt for the finals.
Among the new faces believed to be part of the 26-man squad is Swedish based striker Alexis Bakka, he signed a three year deal with Carlstad United FC at the start of the year.
Östersunds FK defender Ronald Mukiibi who is also based in Sweden, Mukiibi was one of the provisional squad that was preparing for the 2017 Finals but didn’t make the cut.
Midfielder Kizito Luwagga is also expected to make a comeback in the Cranes’ as a couple of new faces are expected to be announced.
