By Shafic Kiyaga

Proline Football Club’s troubles are far from over this season. Not only do they sit bottom of the Uganda Premier League table with zero points, after eight games, though that is down to a boardroom decision than to poor performance actually.

The Lugogo based side have been drawn with another huge blow after youngster Ivan Bogere has defected from the club, only to mysteriously be sighted in Dubai, and on the verge of joining United Arab Emirates giants SC Al-Nasr.

According to our sources from Dubai, Bogere received a kingly welcome on arrival at the Dubai International airport, and was in the company of a one Pius Akena.

“I was at the airport, but that kid has been warmly received here in Dubai, with all the sheikhs coming out to grace his arrival with huge placards of warm messages,” the source told football-256.

“He should be a good player because many players don’t receive such reception here, and given that the club are one of the biggest around here, he should be quite a good player from down there.” The source continued as they showed us one of Bogere’s pictures for identification.

Bogere has not featured in a game for Proline since scoring a brace against AS Kigali in the CAF Confederations cup qualifier return leg at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo as according to the club, he has been out with injury.

The striker has also feigned to be suffering from malaria on several occasions as one of the reasons to miss training and games.

Who are SC Al-Nasr?

Al Nasr Sports Club was founded by a group of young men in Al Ghubaiba, Dubai in 1945, making it the oldest club in UAE footballing history.

They club is owned by Dubai ruling Al-Makhtoum family, with the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the Minister of Finance and Industry, Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum the chairman of the club.

They compete in the UAE-Pro league (Arabian Gulf League), and have won the 14-team league three times in history, with their last victory coming in 1985, and finished eighth during the 2018/19 season.

Former Manchester City and Valencia forward Alvaro Negredo currently plays for the club, with French midfielder Yohan Cabaye, retired Italian striker Luca Toni and Argentine forward Mauro Zarate also turning out for the club previously.

Al-Nasr are currently managed by 49-year-old former Dynamo Zagreb player manager Krunoslav Jurcic.
