Farouk Miya and Abdul Lumala are currently without a club and according to reports Vipers SC could be where they are both headed.

Since returning home from Ukrainian side FC Lviv following the invasion of Russia on Ukraine, Miya has been training with Vipers at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Meanwhile, Lumala’s move to Egyptian side Pyramid FC in 2019 failed to work out after he sustained a career-threatening knee injury.

He played less than ten times in two years and following the expiry of his contract with Pyramids, the 24-year-old just like Miya is without a club.

As Miya was training with Vipers, Lumala was training with SC Villa recently and reports had suggested that he was joining the 16-time Uganda Premier League champions until he came out personally and trashed it all.

While training with Vipers, Miya got a chance to play for the Uganda Cranes in their first two 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Algeria and Niger.

On the other hand, Lumala hinted at retiring from the national team after he was ejected by head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic from the Cranes squad ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Mali in September 2021.

Vipers will be hoping to secure their signatures ahead of their busy 2022/23 season where they will be taking part in the CAF Champions League on top of the domestic engagements.

Should Miya and Lumala end up at Kitende, they will not be in unfamiliar environment given that they are both St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende graduates while the former is also a former player at Vipers.
