CS Sfaxien manager Ruud Krol will not be taking the Saturday Total CAF Confederation Cup first leg playoff against Vipers for granted especially with a slot in the group stages of the competition at stake.
Krol said this at Entebbe International Airport upon arrival, insisting the home side will be the team to beat but they are ready for the challenge.
“Vipers is a good team and we know they will give us challenge,” the former Dutch international said before adding.
“We have had a long trip we hope to ho have a good rest and be in good shape for the game,” he added.
Sfaxien are four time winners (1998, 2007, 2008, 2013) of this competition, their last one was won by krol, who is in his second coming at the club.
“We have prepared well as a team we know it’s going to be a tough game and we shall be working towards getting the result we need.”
“This competition is very tough if you don’t prepare well you don’t get the results you need and I believe we have prepared well to get the result we need,” he added.
The result Sfaxien needs is a win at Kitende and hope to finish the job in Tunisia in seven days’ time.
Vipers were knocked out of the 2018/2019 Total CAF Champions League by Constantine 3-0 on aggregate. Before the Constantine game, Vipers hadn’t lost or conceded a goal at home on the continent.
With that record out of the way, they will go for the Saturday tie with nothing on mind apart from getting a result that will enable them finish the job in Tunisia. The question is whether they can finish that job.
